Image Quality
At first sight, it seems unlikely that decreasing the UPP of a source file can improve the resolution. Simply changing the UPP cannot generate information that is not in the original file. However, in practice, it is possible to improve image quality by decreasing the UPP. This is due to the "lossy" nature of the JPEG compression used to store date in the MPT file.
Data in files compressed with JPEG is not reproduced exactly when the files are decompressed. Some information is lost. If we decrease the UPP of a source file, before compression, the file size is increased, and the compression losses are relatively less significant than for a small file. The resultant image from the rendered MPT file can be significantly better than if the source file had been used with its original UPP.
